Critic and Correspondent, NPR Music

Ann Powers is a critic and correspondent for NPR Music. She writes for NPR’s music news blog, The Record, and can be heard on NPR’s newsmagazines and music programs. Powers is the author of Good Booty: Love and Sex, Black and White, Body and Soul in American Music, published in 2017, and co-author of Tori Amos: Piece by Piece (with Amos), published in 2005. Her book Weird Like Us: My Bohemian America was published in 1999. She also co-edited, with Evelyn McDonnell, the 1995 book Rock She Wrote: Women Write About Rock, Rap, and Pop and edited Best Music Writing 2010
