Brenda Moore

Founder and Executive Director, Kids Educational Engagement Project, Liberia

Brenda Moore is founder and executive director of Kids Educational Engagement Project (KEEP) in Liberia. During the 2014 Ebola outbreak, when public schools were closed and children lacked access to educational materials (there are no public libraries in Liberia), she began teaching her children at home, then supporting other children with free worksheets and educational packets. KEEP has since reached more than 7,000 students and established seven reading centers around Liberia. Moore’s activism also extends to issues of child exploitation and sexual abuse. She has spoken at a UN conference on women’s issues, was elected to the Ashoka Fellowship in 2018, and is a 2019 New Voices Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
