Joseph Stiglitz

Economist; Professor, Columbia University

Joseph Stiglitz is an economist and professor at Columbia University. He is chief economist of the Roosevelt Institute and co-chairs the OECD’s High-Level Expert Group on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress. Stiglitz’s work focuses on income distribution, risk, corporate governance, public policy, macroeconomics, and globalization. He previously founded the Initiative for Policy Dialogue think tank, based at Columbia, was a senior vice president and chief economist of the World Bank, and chaired President Clinton’s Council of Economic Advisors. Stiglitz is the author of numerous books, including People, Power, and Profits. His recognition includes receiving the 2001 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and being named one of TIME’s 100 most influential people in the world.
