Keisha Bottoms (D) is mayor of Atlanta, elected in 2017. Previously, she served on Atlanta City Council from 2010 to 2018, maintained a private law practice, was a judge in Fulton County State Court, and was executive director of the city and county recreation authority in the Atlanta area. As mayor, her accomplishments include the city’s first fully staffed office of equity, diversity, and inclusion, appointment of an LGBTQ affairs coordinator and a human trafficking Fellow, citywide elimination of cash bail bond, and the closure of Atlanta City Detention Center to ICE detainees. She chairs the Community Development and Housing Committee of the US Conference of Mayors.
