Michael Chertoff is a co-founder and executive chairman of The Chertoff Group, a global risk-management and security consulting advisory firm. He served as secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security from 2005 to 2009. Prior to that, Chertoff was a federal judge on the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 2003 to 2005 and assistant attorney general of the US Department of Justice’s Criminal Division from 2001 to 2003. Along with working in private practice, he was a federal prosecutor for more than a decade, investigating and prosecuting cases of political corruption, organized crime, corporate fraud, and terrorism.
