Patrick Hines

Founder and CEO, Functional Fluidics; Fellow, Health Innovators Fellowship, The Aspen Institute

Patrick Hines is founder and CEO of Functional Fluidics, a specialized medical diagnostics company. Inspired by children with blood flow abnormalities, he developed a method for measuring blood function in his laboratory at Wayne State University School of Medicine, and Functional Fluidics has further developed the technology so it can be used to evaluate new therapies for bleeding and clotting disorders. Hines is an assistant professor of pediatric critical care medicine at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, a fellow of the inaugural class of the Aspen Institute’s Health Innovators Fellowship, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Crain’s Detroit Business named him one of its 2013 40 Under 40 honorees.
