Samuel Ramsey

Founder and Director, Ramsey Research Foundation; Professor of Entomology, BioFrontiers Institute, University of Colorado

Samuel Ramsey is founder and director of the Ramsey Research Foundation, which works to remove barriers affecting the progress of and access to science by developing novel pathways for scientific funding and removing paywalls that prevent public engagement with published scientific work. He is also endowed professor of entomology at the BioFrontiers Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. As a child Ramsey suffered from a debilitating fear of insects that he conquered by educating himself about them at his local library. His nationally and internationally recognized work seeks to understand and preserve the ecosystems that invertebrates make possible. An example is his research on honey bee health decline which strives to learn how pollinator pandemics start and how they can be stopped.
