Chief Research and Academic Officer and Alfred Lerner Memorial Chair in Innovative Biomedical Research, Cleveland Clinic

Serpil Erzurum is the chief research and academic officer of Cleveland Clinic, where she holds the Alfred Lerner Memorial Chair in Innovative Biomedical Research. She leads growth of medical and scientific education programs; clinical, basic, and translational research; and technology development. A practicing pulmonologist and active scientist, Erzurum is also a professor of medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Her scientific contributions have led to diagnostic and therapeutic advances in lung diseases and helped identify human physiologic adaptive responses to high-altitude hypoxia. She has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles and been principal investigator on more than 20 federal grants. She is a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
