Vikram Patel is The Pershing Square Professor of Global Health and
Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School. Co-leader
of the Global Mental Health@Harvard initiative, his work focuses on mental
disorders. Patel co-founded the Centre for Global Mental Health and Mental
Health Innovations Network at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical
Medicine, the award-winning Indian NGO Sangath, and the Movement for Global
Mental Health. He served on the WHO High Level Independent Commission for
Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health and on an Indian government
committee that drafted India’s first national mental health policy. Along with
numerous honors, Patel was one of TIME’s 100 most influential persons of
2015.
