William Shelton

Independent Consultant; Retired Commander, Air Force Space Command

William Shelton is an independent consultant and retired US Air Force general. Until September 2014, he was commander of Air Force Space Command. Shelton was a Space Shuttle controller for the first 18 missions, commander of GPS operations, and commander of the largest ballistic missile wing. He commanded Defense Department space operations during the Chinese anti-satellite test and a North Korea launch, was Air Force CIO and director of its headquarters staff, drove development of new satellite concepts, and led the maturation of cyberspace forces. Shelton is board vice chairman for Aerospace Corporation, board chairman for the Space Foundation, and a board member of Airbus Defense and Space and the Colorado Thirty Group.
